Tuross Beach is not a place that I know well at all, and that is a mistake on my part. It is on the headland between the lakes of Tuross and Coila on the Eurobodalla Coast (South Coast of New South Wales). The closest major town is Bateman’s Bay, but it is a spectacular area, and well worth finding.
Once you decide you want to head for the water here, then it is worth contacting Tuross Beach Holiday Park to work out the best accommodation for you and yours. You might like to stay in one of the beautiful beach front units or maybe a high set beach view unit. Then again if you take your own rig or have a tent, then you might be lucky to get a beach front site. Wherever you stay on the park, you will be close to the beach. If you want a day by the pool rather than on the sand, then you get a choice between the pool and the spa!
The South Coast has an outstanding reputation for the quality of the seafood, and it is so easy to try that out here. Whether you are fishing for fun or for food, you could not be in a better place. Mind you, if you fishing skills are as good as mine, it is always good to know that the local eateries specialize in the catch – so much easier sometimes!
The Batemans Marine Park has made sure of the future for recreational fishing, through its good management of the eco system. Just to make sure that you know where to fish (and what you can catch) there is plenty of information around town.
Golf is somewhat more interesting here, you may take a little longer than usual to get back to the club house because of the time you spend looking at the views. The Tuross Heads Country Club also has a bowling green, and is open to visitors who want you to share in their hospitality.
If you want a bit of a change, then a trip to the wonderful village of Central Tilba would be a nice idea. Central Tilba is a working heritage town (classified under the National Trust), with local artisans practicing their crafts. This little town bursts at the seams over Easter with their Easter Festival of street performers, food, craft, games – the list just goes on.
Tuross Heads is now on my list of places to go, and Tuross Beach Holiday Park is the place to stay.
