The Central Coast New South Wales is a beautiful area, great beaches, plenty of sunshine and four wonderful Central Coast Tourist Parks that work together to give you a fabulous choice of places to stay, and all within about an hours drive of Sydney.
Toowoon Bay Tourist Park is big park in a beautiful area. The Entrance is the closest town to Toowoon Bay Tourist Park, and is a really nice place. I have been there a couple of times and always enjoy it, plenty of great places to eat, water to walk by and things to see.
When you want to work out the accommodation you want, you really cannot go past looking at the park website first. The park map shows where everything is, the huge number of powered sites (some with en-suite) and how much of the park has wireless internet cover very important for people who need to keep working! When you are on the site, take the time for the virtual tour of the cabins, the one for the Beachcomber (the only style not named after a bird) is stunning. Imagine waking up and looking out from the master bedroom across the sand dunes to the beach – well that is what the Beachcomber spa cabin offers – how good is that!
The closest beaches are Toowoon Bay and Shelly Beach, which are patrolled throughout the year. If you want a beach away from the open sea then why not try out the Little Bay, which is kept calm by the break walls. If you prefer your swimming in a pool, then the resort style swimming pool has opened.
For a day out the Australian Reptile Park is hard to beat. This park was established in 1949 by Eric Worrell in Umina, but moved to North Gosford in 1958. The park has a long history of collecting snake venom for antivenins, and is also involved with spider venom! If you have ever had a hankering to keep a snake as a pet, well you can learn all about what to do and what not to do at the Zoo.
There are some delightful Australian mammals and birds here, plus some of my favourite frogs, although I have seen enough cane toads before. One of the exhibits I do not need to see is the spiders, I will just take everyone’s word for it that is it a great exhibit!
Toowoon Bay Tourist Park is in the right place to give you a great break away for the everyday. Why not check out their website for specials and school holiday activities.
