The South Coast of New South Wales and Ulladulla are in a perfect spot, being three hours drive from Sydney and three hours drive from Canberra. But, the smaller village of Milton is 3km from Ulladulla and home to the Milton Village and Tourist Park.
The park is really big, with 17 acres of parkland near some of the best beaches and, according to the locals, the best Camelot weather you can get. It is a treat when you find a park near beaches that has a real country feel to it. There are a couple of styles of on-site accommodation to choose from, plus powered and unpowered sites.
If you bring the kids with you there is plenty for them to do on the park with a swimming pool, children’s wading pool, basketball court, tennis court and the games room. If the kids have energy left at the end of the day, they can ride their bikes in the park, and there is room for a game of the football of your choice. Just to help you out with feeding the family, there is a great camp kitchen with dining area and free BBQs.
The closest village is Milton, which is an historic village, and encourages its local artists and crafts people. There are some great cafes and interesting shops for those days when you just want to wander.
One of the highlights of the Milton year is the Scarecrow Festival which is held on the June long weekend each year. Although Scarecrows feature heavily in this Fesitval, there are all sorts of other activities involved, with school fetes (all those home made cakes and jam!) plus markets and music.
What makes this Festival so special is that the Scarecrows actually join in, during the lead up you might just find one sitting in a tree or waiting patiently on a bench. Imagine, if you can, the fun of an interactive Scarecrow Festival. There is a good link to this at www.ulladulla.info/milton-scarecrow-festival
If you have nothing to do in the October long weekend, then head back to Milton for the Settlers Fair, where they celebrate and revive the pioneer spirit of the past, and the importance of Milton to those days.
Milton and the Milton Village and Tourist Park make a great combination.
