On of the essential aspects of a riverside park is to have water in the river, and Kingston-on-the-Murray always does. Not only does it have water but it has its own private boat ramp and jetty, which gives excellent access to the Murray for those all important water based activities.
The first task is to find the your site (powered or unpowered) or your cabin from their extensive range from standard (without ensuite) through to deluxe which has just about everything you would want, including the essential hairdryer!
If you are like me and prefer to gently drift around a swimming pool, then you can do that here too. Peter and Lisa Kollman have made sure that their pool area is the perfect spot for some peaceful relaxing or family time on a hot day.
When it is time to drag yourself away from the park, then it is worth while taking a trip to the Banrock Station Wine and Wetland Centre. Not only does this winery produce award winning wines, but you can enjoy your lunch and the superb views of the vineyards and wetlands at the same time. It is worth checking out the parks website to see if Peter and Lisa are running one of their special deals with Banrock Station.
Cruising up and down the river is a wonderful way to while away the hours, and the Loch Luna Cruises are only too happy to help you do just that. They can even pick you up from the parks boat ramp. I have it on very good authority that the sunset cruise during daylight savings is an absolute must.
While you are in the area, then you might like to make time to visit the Overland Corner Hotel. This was built in 1859 just 23 years after South Australia was founded. The builders, William, Henry and George Brant made sure that their building would last, and it has even through severe flooding. In 1965 it was purchased by the National Trust and fully restored, to include a dining room and beer garden. Some people are convinced that the hotel still has its fair share of ghosts.
This is a great place to have a well balanced holiday, plenty to do when you want to and plenty of space to do nothing when you need to. Please remember that the Riverland is a quarantine zone for fruit fly. For more information go to www.pir.sa.gov.au/fruitfly
Peter and Lisa would love to see you there, so you too can realise why staying at Kingston on the Murray Caravan Park is not just a caravan park, but an experience.
