Rachael and Kieran who operate the BIG4 Tweed Billabong tell us they have been busy with a host of activities for the talented and creative Grey Nomad set who have been staying with them over winter and who are now preparing to leave for home. This means they are now busy preparing for the forthcoming school holidays and I have to say they have some great activities planned for that period as well. This of course doesn't deter the older generation from being part of a lot of fun also and there's going to be something for everyone coming up.
Before we get to that, let me tell you what the older generation got up to in recent times, and this might tempt you to think about staying there next year. They enjoyed canoe and boat races, morning teas, drinks by the billabong and the competition for all food lovers to end all caravan park competitions "My Caravan Rules". There were 14 entries to this event who cooked up restaurant quality meals to present to the official judges. Why didn't they invite our own Frankie J Holden in to judge, after all he is a fine connoisseur of food and I'm sure we could find an appropriate cravat for him to out do Matt Preston. I must say the main judge sported a rather unique orange cravat which I'm sure Matt Preston would love to add to his collection. The winner of the event was Jacqueline Ashby with a Burmese Chicken Curry, closely followed by Carol Cambridge with her Leek and Feta Tart. Well done ladies!
So, what's coming up next at Big4 Tweed Billabong? I did mention school holidays and there's stacks for the kids to do at Big4 Tweed Billabong and with their Kids Club Calendar you'll be lucky if you see the kids all day. However if you want to treat yourself and the kids to a day out it's only a short trip to Dream World, Movie World, Sea World and Wet N Wild and there's the wild life parks, and if you ask at reception they can book you in with a smile. There's also the nearby Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, and the friendly reception staff at BIG4 Tweed Billabong can arrange a 10% discount voucher for you to this attraction.
Now for the "big kids" there's a host of things for you too! Firstly, both football Grand Finals will be shown on a big screen at BIG4 Tweed Billabong. The most important final of course will be the AFL Grand Final when no doubt one of our great Melbourne teams will easily defeat an interstate one. Then on the Sunday it's the NRL Grand Final on the big screen as well, but I won't mention Melbourne Storm will I! I think it's great to have that Melbourne Sydney rivalry!
If you are a keen lawn bowler I definitely recommend the Tweed Bowls Club. If you haven't taken your bowls with you, you can hire them at a low cost at the club. The indoor rinks are great and the club also serves a great meal and is licensed. There's also a great golf course nearby who look after guests admirably. I also recommend a trip up to Twin Towns, a great place to enjoy a very reasonable priced meal as well as some great shows and coming up shortly they will feature Suzi Qatro. They also have a Tabaret and Bingo is played regularly. Ask about their courtesy bus if you don't want to drive. We must tell you that while Big4 recently announced that some of their parks would be pet friendly, Big4 Tweed Billabong is not.
Big4 Tweed Billabong also have special deals from time to time and it's worth a visit to their web site at www.tweedbillabong.com.au or give them a call on their toll free number 1800 650 405.
