Waking up in Nelligen, NSW at the BIG4 Nelligen Holiday Park is absolutely AWESOME! I lay in bed and looked out at our own little private beach to see my husband fishing, with a cup of coffee in hand, gazing out at perfectly still clear water at 6.30am. For me, sunshine, quiet, 3 children still tucked up in their beds, coffee, paper, and my happiness was complete.

Situated on the NSW South coast, just 10km from Batemans Bay, the park is lapped up by the Clyde River on 3 sides. All campsites and cabins here are a short walk from the water’s edge.

The photos of this holiday park don’t do it justice. Park owners Ron & Gloria were kind enough to give us one of their best deluxe villas, a 2-bedroom cabin – huge kitchen with dishwasher, laundry, lounge with coffee table (something which seems to be missing in every other park I’ve stayed but essential for putting feet up on of an evening), candle for mood lighting (nice touch!), large glass dining table, flat screen TV (another in master bedroom), fire place, 2nd bedroom with double bed & bunks, huge bathroom with shower and large corner spa bath, and all rooms with unobstructed views of the water and nature at its finest. Other touches like electric blankets, reverse cycle heating/cooling, ironing board & iron make this place a home away from home -  or better than home! Hubby was very happy to find a couple of complimentary beers in the fridge upon arrival too!

I almost forgot to mention the enormous deck out front with beautiful large dining setting (a BBQ built into the middle of the table!) and outdoor sink.

The evening we arrived, my husband immediately grabbed the fishing rods and sat out on the sand and rocks teaching our girls to fish. I rolled up our 2 year-old’s pants and walked along the water’s edge with her. She was captivated by the ducks and pelicans coming up onto the sand and walking right past us and watching the fish jump.

Ron & Gloria have recently bought the Steampacket Hotel, literally across the road and were in the process huge renovations, building a wood-fired pizza oven and putting in a wonderful beer-garden out the back. It’s the ideal place to head to after a lazy day at the park and the best part is you can have a couple of drinks and walk back to your camp-site or cabin!

This park has it all – kid’s water park, tennis court, resort style pool, jumping pillows, fishing boats and canoes to hire, and go-karts.
