Anglesea was a favourite holiday place when I was a kid, and I am really happy to see that it still is. Sometimes your childhood memories let you down, but not here. The beaches are still beautiful, the scenery is well worth finding, and there are plenty of activities to keep young and not so young happily entertained.
My memories include staying on a caravan park, and BIG4 Anglesea Holiday Park looks like a perfect place to call home for your well earned holiday. While I am happy to see places that I remember, I am happier to see the wonderful modern standards on this park, one I have been to a few times now.
First off are the cabins, the choice is just breathtaking. You get to choose between seven styles, some for couples only, with the brand new Longboard Couples Suites catching my eye. But the family spa cabins are pretty stunning too. You just need make sure you work out the best size and layout for your family, and the reception staff will be more than happy to help you with that.
If you are bringing your caravan or motorhome, then there are some lovely sites for you to choose from. Once you are set up and ready then it is time to find out about the area. If you are a surfer you do not need to be told about Bells Beach, about 15 minutes drive from Anglesea. The area is known as the surfcoast, with good reason, and every Easter sees the Rip Curl Pro underway, which draws top surfers from all over the world to compete for the great prize. If you don’t surf, but would like to learn, there are surf schools on the Surfcoast.
Golf takes on another aspect at the Anglesea Golf Club because while you are aiming for the next green, you need to miss the kangaroos. This is a sharing place, you, your golfing friends and an iconic Australian marsupial.
If you want a stunning day out, then Anglesea is the beginning of the Great Ocean Road, which is one of the great road trips in Australia. There are plenty of lovely little spots to stop and have a look at the views, and they are just superb. The coast line is constantly changing as the water wears away the rocks, so you will always see something new.
Just to add to the list of temptations in and around Anglesea there is great fishing, markets, a growing number of wineries and some fancy food outlets. If your idea of a holiday is to lounge around and let the kids play, then you will not be disappointed with the playgrounds and activities on the park.
However you look at it, Anglesea and BIG4 Anglesea Holiday Park are sure to give you a great holiday.
