Once again excitement is building up for the annual Westernport Festival coming to Hastings in Victoria on the weekend of 24 to 26th February. This great event is held on the foreshore Hastings, and the theme this year is "The Farmer Wants A Festival".
This year the festival focuses on local produce, crafts , livestock, agriculture with a few fun farm themed activities included. The usual favourites such as the street parade, Sunday car show and carnival rides which are a great attraction for the kids will be on. The festival provides affordable family friendly entertainment with most events FREE to participate in.
As well there will be live music including the New Jersey Group with a Bon Jovi tribute, a free community sausage sizzle, kids karaoke, Teddy Bears Picnic, a food and wine marquee, art and artisans show at the community hall with some great quilts and handcrafted art, the Victorian Outboard Club power boats on the water and a huge fireworks display and much much more. The festival does NOT allow any alcohol in the area and this is strictly policed by security staff.
The Westernport Festival also recently received an award for "Community Action" in the 2011 Tidy Towns sustainable communties awards and has been a finalist in previous years. We should also add that Whats Up Downunder is one of many sponsors to this great event this year. If you are travelling in the Mornington Peninsula Westernport Bay area with your van or motor home the Stony Point Caravan Park does have vacancies during this period but as always book early.
