We needed some petrol, and found ourselves at Southport Park on the Gold Coast. Once the car had been refuelled, it was time to do the same for us. So we found a really cool car park under a shade sail, which is great to do on a 30+ day. As you may gather I do not like being really hot at all.
Southport Park is not a massive shopping centre, but it has quite a lot going for it. There are quite a few places to eat, and they all looked pretty good. But, sometimes you go with what looks the most popular. If a place is crowded out by locals, then it probably means it is good. So, we went to Luv-a-Coffee, because it was busy and hard to find a table!
We found one, had a look at the menu and then I went up to order. That was fun. The women in front of me wanted a chat with a couple of the people behind the counter, so she stood there for a while having her chat. The problem was that there was only one space to give orders, so unless she moved, the people behind waited. Oh well, I was patient. I ordered a ½ Chicken caesar wrap for Peter and a BLT for me.
Usually I ask for our coffee after we had eaten, but I did not bother this time so the coffee came, and it was pretty good. But, why does hot coffee have to come in a glass with no handle!
Anyway, we grabbed a couple of papers and caught up on some news while we had our coffee and waited for lunch. I do like having papers to read, they sort of go with good coffee. Our lunch came, and that was good too. Peter's wrap dribbled, as it should; there was plenty of Caesar dressing on it. My BLT was fine, although I would have liked more lettuce – but then I really like lettuce. Peter, who does not like it nearly as much as me, would have been happy with the amount in it. My BLT came with chips – which we shared. They were nicely cooked, crisp and did not taste of fat.
We paid $26.10 for the lunch, which was fine. The service was good, and friendly, which is probably why the women in the queue wanted a chat – she obviously knew them all. Although they were busy, you did not feel that you had to get up and go as soon as you had finished. A look at the menu showed that they had a very good range of food, and it all looked nice and fresh and well served. We were more than happy with Luv-a-Coffee at Southport Park.
